Clara "Hazel" Spade-Ewing, age 84, of Alliance went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Alderwood Convalescent Center in Bellingham, WA after a short illness.
She was born June 19, 1922 in Alliance, Ohio to Foster and Clara (Heacock) Donley and was a lifelong resident until recently joining her granddaughter and grandson-in-law in Washington State.
Mrs. Ewing worked for 30 years as a clerk and cosmetician, retiring in 1987. She worked for Turner Drug Store, later known as People's Drug and formerly known as Mt. Union Square Pharmacy.
Hazel was a member of First Christian Church in Alliance and attended Northwest Baptist Church in Bellingham, WA more recently. She was also a member of Alliance Senior Citizen's Center and Alliance Senior Citizen's Club.
Survivors include her granddaughters, Tracy (Goshorn) Brown of Bellingham, WA and Lyn (Goshorn) Snedden of Hilliard, OH; two great grandsons Jay Anderson of Columbus and Temirlan M. Snedden of Hilliard, OH and one great granddaughter Nicole G. Snedden of Hilliard, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Marie (Shankle) Donley, first husband, Raymond Spade, who passed away in 1979, second husband Harley R. Ewing, who passed away in 1977, daughter Patricia Ann Goshorn, granddaughter Pamela Joyce Conrad and brother Charles Donley.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2007 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Pam Bruno officiating. Friends may call from 1-1:30 p.m. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park. An additional memorial service will be held at the Northwest Baptist Church in Bellingham, WA.
