Clayton L. Conrad age 76 of Alliance died in Okeechobee, Florida at 5:22 p.m. February 17, 2004.
Mr. Conrad was born August 21, 1927 in Knox Township, Ohio to Cregg and Florence (Benner) Conrad. He was the owner and operator of Clayton Conrad Excavating for 35 years, retiring in 1992.
Mr. Conrad was a member of Alliance Evangelical Friends Church. He was a charter member and member with perfect attendance for 29 years of Knox Ruritan Club. Clayton was an avid fisherman.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Louise (Brugger) Conrad, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage on May 29, 2003; two daughters, Jo Ann (Richard) Rieck of Dellroy, Ohio, and Denise Louise (James) Irvine of Chandler, Arizona, sisters; Gladys Goughnour, Evelyn Reustle, and Mary Penny, all of Alliance, and Viola Blanchard of Homeworth; brothers Olin Conrad and Dale Conrad, both of Alliance; and four grandchildren; Katie Rieck, Andrew Rieck, Anne (Irvine) Molenda, and Brent Irvine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mable Mobley, brothers Arnold and Lester Conrad, along with one infant sister and one infant brother.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
