Cleo F. Wagner

September 29, 1915 — February 24, 2006

Cleo F. Wagner, age 90 of Hartville, and formerly of Alliance, died at her home Feb. 24, 2006.
She was born Sept. 29, 1915 in Paden City, West Virginia to Sampson and Myrtle (VanCamp) Taylor. Her family moved to Ohio when she was four years old, and she moved to Alliance in the 1980's.
Cleo graduated in 1933 from Carrollton High School, and was a piano and organ teacher for many years in the Carrollton area. She was well known for her cooking, having won many cooking contests and having many of her recipes published. She loved to play cards and belonged to three card clubs.
A member of the Marlboro Christian Church and had been a Christian for 78 years. For many years, Cleo was active in her church with women's ministry, music ministry, teaching children's classes.
Cleo was also a member of the Pythian Sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda (David) Topper of Hartville; daughter-in-law, Ruth Ryan of Dennison; six grandchildren, Robin (Harold) Shamel of Newcomerstown, Nan (Jerry) Stanley of West Salem, Brenda (Dan) Shaver of Dennison, Gary (Malena) Ryan of Washington, Tiffany Topper of Hartville, and Patricia Topper of Hartville; seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands: Sam Ryan, Bert Lumley, and Bill Wagner; one son, Rex Ryan; and one sister, Chloris Smith.
Private Graveside Services will be held at Westview Cemetery in Carrollton with Ed Harnish, Minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marlboro Christian Church, 9383 Edison St. NE, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
