Clyda F. Akins, age 87 of Huntsville, Alabama and formerly of Alliance, died at 8:26 p.m. February 23, 2008 at the Regency Nursing Home in Huntsville, Alabama.
She was born December 5, 1920 in Cohay, Mississippi to Wesley and Garnet (Livingston) Drennan.
Mrs. Akins graduated from Jones County Junior College.
She was a former member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church, Alliance Women's Club, Red Cross Volunteer, and former member of the Alliance Community Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by three sons; Clem W. (Frances) Akins Jr., of Huntsville, Ala., Stanley E. Akins of Newport News, Va., and Glenn L. (Linda) Akins of Alliance; one daughter, Sandra K. (David) Milidonis, of Cary, North Carolina; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clem Akins, who died Dec. 26, 1992; two sisters, and one brother.
Private Family Services will be held Monday March 3rd with Rev. Hoyte Wilhelm of Union Avenue United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
