Cynthia Anne Ruttig

Cynthia Anne Ruttig, age 81, of Alliance, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015, in her home surrounded by her children.
She was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on November 3, 1933, but spent a great deal of her childhood in Salisbury, Massachusetts.
Cynthia attended Northfield Mount Herman, and The University of Massachusetts as an English literature major. She went on to the University of Pittsburgh where she attained her master's degree in Social work.
Cynthia worked at Akron Child Guidance Center retiring after 35 years as an integral part of the Center.
Cynthia volunteered for many things, but the closest to her heart was her work with Warm Up Akron, a group that donates afghans to those in need.
She spent her winters in Panama City Beach, Florida, and her summers at Cutty's Sunset Campground. She was a member of the Alliance Senior Center, the YMCA and the Alliance Women's Club. She was an avid Bingo player as well.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Taylor; mother, Florence (Pettingill) Taylor; and sisters, Helen Taylor-Ingles and Loraine Lamy.
Cynthia is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Mark) Donohoe of Alliance; sons, Eric (Tammy) Ruttig of Palmyra and Christopher (Lora) Ruttig of Randolph; grandchildren, Ashley, Jade, Brianna, Haley, Michael, Raven, Alex and Taylor; niece, Catherine Lamy Bremner; and nephews, Daniel Lamy and Peter Lamy.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Dodson, Chaplain Alliance Community Hospital officiating. Friends may call beginning at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Cynthia's family suggests memorial contributions to Warm Up Akron, in care of the Mogodore Library 144 S. Cleveland Ave, Mogodore, OH 44260.
