Dale Deckerd, age 81, of Alliance, passed away at 8:17 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2015, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born July 5, 1934, in Canton, Ohio, to Henry and Ethel (Bechtel) Deckerd.
A graduate of Canton South High School, Dale then attended Kent State and Akron Universities taking advanced writing courses. He wrote his autobiography, entitled "Survivor".
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Dale was employed as a dairy farmer and a school bus driver.
He was a member of the Bethel United Church of Christ and was a member of Ruritans, Mile Branch Grange and the Farming Bureau.
Survivors include his sons, Allen Deckerd, William "Bill" Deckerd and Steve Deckerd; daughters, Cindy (Mark) Hergenroder and Susie Goff; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters.
A memorial services will be held at a later date.
