Dale E. Grove, age 86 of Alliance, died at 7:43 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born October 21, 1922 in North Canton, Ohio to Emanuel H. and Olive C. (Werstler) Grove.
Mr. Grove graduated in 1940 from Alliance High School and attended Mt. Union College. He worked in a number of supervisory positions including Quality Control at Alliance Machine Company, until he retired in 1983.
He was a 50- year member of Christ United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and was a former member of the Stewardship Campaign. Mr. Grove was also a 50- year member of Conrad Masonic Lodge #271 and was a 32 Degree Mason, Valley of Canton and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was a senior member of American Society for Quality Control. Also, Mr. Grove was the former Vice President in the Canton Chapter of Alzheimer and Related Disorders.
Mr. Grove served during W.W.II in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, as a Heavy Machine Gunner. He was the recipient of two bronze battle stars.
Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia G. (Charlie Manypenny) Carlin of Alliance, OH; sister-in-law, Muriel Grove of North Canton, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Virginia B. (Austin) Grove, whom he married on September 25, 1941 and who died on July 18, 1994, two brothers; Kenneth M. and Lawrence E. Grove.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. John Ferris of Christ United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Conrad Masonic service will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
