Daniel Schlabach Jr., age 78, of Alliance, passed away at 7:51 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2016, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born January 15, 1938, in Hartville, Ohio, to Daniel and Alta (Hochstetler) Schlabach Sr. and was a lifelong area resident.
Daniel was self-employed as a contractor specializing in slate roofing, and previously owned The Canteen and The Hippity Hop Restaurant as well as managed Sun Tan Golf Course.
He loved the Lord and enjoyed attending numerous churches and attending Bible study groups. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening, animals and nature.
Survivors include his wife, Frances (Srmag) Schlabach whom he married June 11, 1966; four brothers, Chris D. Schlabach of Canton, Wayne Schlabach of Sanford, North Carolina, Vernon Schlabach of Lindsborg, Kansas and John Schlabach of Hartville; four sisters, Clara Hostetler of Hartville, Sarah Hostetler of Sugarcreek, Betty Smith of Alliance and Alta Rohrer of Orrville; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother and infant sister, William Schlabach and Mary Schlabach; and older brothers, Eli "Boots" Schlabach and Calvin Schlabach.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Todd Schlabach officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
