David R. Davenport, age 56, of Alliance, died at 3:35 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born May 19, 1956, in Orrville, Ohio, to William J and Anna L. (Umpleby) Davenport.
David graduated from Hoover High School in 1974 and attended Stark State College. He formerly worked at Alliance Castings as a quality control inspector and served as a Sherriff's Deputy for Perry Township and in Franklin, Virginia.
A member of the Zion United Church of Christ in North Canton, David was a life member of the North American Hunt Club and former member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed playing golf and other sports.
Survivors include his wife, Tamara L. (Schumann) Davenport of Alliance, whom he married December 14, 2001; daughter, Sarah A. (Matthew) Heacock of Limaville; son, William D Davenport of Alliance, granddaughter, Jillian; and a nephew and niece.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
David's family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. A Celebration of life will be held immediately following visitation at his home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
