David Lee Light, age 54, of Alliance, passed away at 9:40 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born March 25, 1956, in Alliance, Ohio, to Robert Light and Doris (Sole) Light Palmer.
David was employed by United Parcel Service Freight for 24 years. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, fishing, playing Trivial Pursuit, and was an avid reader. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was a United States Army and United States Navy Veteran during the Vietnam Era in Granada.
Survivors include his step-son, Michael (Tracy) Miller of Alliance; three brothers, Jack Light of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Cleve (Eve) Light of St. Mary's, W. Virginia and Paul (Kory) Palmer of Friendswood, Texas; four sisters, Teresa Albert of Alliance, Vicki Vorhees of Amanda, Ohio, Regina Martin of Alliance and Geeni (Ray) Urban of Hubbard; two grandchildren, Zachary and Sarah Miller and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna R. (Cunningham) Light, whom he married October 4, 1986 and who died in 2001; two brothers; and step-father, Melvin G. Palmer.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
