David Carl Murphy, age 67, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at his home in Canton.
Born in Gilboa, West Virginia, on May 31, 1949 to Elsie Irene and Claude Luther Murphy, he lived most of his life in Alliance.
Dave was a man with many skills from carpentry, welding, plumbing, and construction and was a mechanic.
He worked at Morgan's Engineering in Alliance for 10 years and had owned his own manufacturing company, Carnation Basket Company in Alliance for 10 years. He finished out his working years at Cargill Salts in Akron.
Dave finally enjoyed his retirement working in his son's auto shop, going boating and enjoying his family and pets.
He was a long-time loving husband, to his surviving wife, Linda (Vance) Murphy, having just celebrated 47 years of marriage on December 4, 2016; proud father to his children, Jason D. Murphy and his wife, Claudia Murphy, Cyndi L. Murphy-Lane and husband, Adam Lane and Andrea C. Murphy; proud grandfather of Stephanie Stout, Jessica Stout, Whitley Murphy, Jacey Murphy and Shonney "Pippy" Murphy; and proud great-grandfather of Clayton and Coby DeWitt.
Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by his baby brother; sisters, Lois Ann Cornett and Rosalee Ambergy; and a brother-in-law, Robert Cornett.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Louisville Baptist Temple 6565 Columbus Rd. NE Louisville, OH 44641.
In lieu of flowers, cash donations may be made to Dave's family to aid in expenses.
