David N. Francis

David N. Francis, age 59, of Alliance, died at 3:34 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2007 at his home. He was born December 10, 1947 in Alliance to Arthur and Lenora (Seffens) Francis. David was a graduate of the former Atwater High School. He was employed as a welder and heavy equipment operator for S&S Aggregate in Shalersville, Ohio, Standard Slag, American Steel Foundries, East Manufacturing and was also employed by Martin, Chapman and Sissler Excavating Companies. David was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He was a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America, a member of the American Legion Post 166 of Alliance and the International Union of Operating Engineers. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son and he also was a small game trapper. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne M. (Lewis) whom he married December 9, 1990, son, Christopher Francis of the home; four sisters, Doris (Robert) Scullion of Alliance, Nora (Ivan) Lemon of Alliance, Ruth (Ken) Childs of Findlay and Mary (David) Jones of Alliance; two brothers, Barry (Sylvia) Francis of Crocker, Missouri and George Francis of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; and two sisters, Hester Brady and Millie Francis. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Friends may call one and one half hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Alliance Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
