David R. Simmons

David R. Simmons, age 82, of Louisville, passed away at 3:35 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2019 at Oakhill Manor.

He was born September 6, 1936 in Monroe County, Ohio, to Frank and Lucy Ellen (Mobley) Simmons.

Mr. Simmons worked at Alliance Drop Forge for more than 20 years, in addition to working for Milk Marketing Inc., Old King Cole, and Hoover’s.

He was a member of Theophilus Bible Church, and enjoyed riding tractors, farming, baseball, and reading. David enjoyed helping others.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha “Ruth” (Steinwender) Simmons, who he married August 23, 1958; son, David R. (Debbie) Simmons Jr.; daughters, Ruth Ellen (John) Bridgewater, Carol Kay Simmons, and Beth Anne (Robert James) Jordan; daughter-in-law, Penny Sue Simmons; grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Stephen, Ben, Kenny, Tim, Joshua, David Robert, Robert James Jr.,  Amanda Rae, Jonathan, Zachariah, and Rebekah; and siblings, Bettye Simmons, Nancy Menges, Lloyd-Dean Simmons, Ralph Simmons, Ross Simmons, Alan Simmons, and Kathy Sacco.

David was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ernest Duane Simmons; and brothers, Dan, Gary, and Bill Simmons.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2019 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from one hour prior to the service.
