Deborah Ann "Deb" Porter George, age 56, of Alliance, village of Limaville, Ohio died at 11:22 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at her home.
She was born June 21, 1951 to Robert and Nancy (Cracknell) Porter and was a life long resident of Alliance and Limaville.
Deb fought a courageous battle with ovarian cancer for eight years. Never one to complain, she will always be remembered for her positive outlook on life, big smile and her unmistakable laugh. Her zest for life and will to fight raised the spirits of everyone around her. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her and to many she never met.
Deb extracted every ounce of life from each day, enjoying her family, cooking and vacations at the beach.
Deb was a 1969 graduate of Alliance High School, the Columbus School of Cosmetology and attended Kent State University. She was formerly a manager cosmetologist and shop owner licensed in the State of Ohio, employed by Alliance City Hall, the Alliance Review and retired from the Canton Repository as an advertising executive in 2004. She was a member of the First Church of God and the Alliance Chamber of Commerce, Women's Division.
She is leaving behind her awesome family, lifelong friends, her Repository family, Aultman Memorial 6 South and the Morning Star Cancer Center staffs.
Survivors include her loving and caring husband, James F. George, whom she married July 1, 1983; her parents of Melbourne, Florida and Alliance, Ohio; son, Jason M. (Christy) Definbaugh of Marlboro; two sisters, Sherry Porter of Enterprise, Alabama and Conny (David) Campbell of Viera, Florida; grandsons, Jake and Zach Definbaugh, who referred to her as "Mammie Deb"; nephew, Joshua Beene of Enterprise, Alabama and cats, Angel Kitty and Itty Kitty.
Deb was preceded in death by her cousin, J.D. Unkefer III; aunt and uncle, Beth "Nook" and J.D. Unkefer, Jr.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Kim Bergman officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 6-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service.
