Debra A. "Debbie" Burtnett, age 47, of Alliance, died at 5:30 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2012, at Roselawn Gardens of Alliance.
She was born June 25, 1964, in Bethesda, Maryland, to Carl D. and Barbara L. (Knott) Smith.
A 1982 graduate of Alliance High School, Debbie attended Stark State College. She enjoyed swimming, animals, watching NASCAR and following the Cleveland Browns. She was associated with WERA racing, loved helping others and was loved by many.
Survivors include her fiancé of eighteen years, Peter J. McCord of Alliance; mother, Barbara Smith of Alliance; son, David Burtnett of Alliance and Anthony (Maria) Smith of Ft. Bragg, NC; four grandchildren; sisters, Brenda Lee Hoover of Belvedere, NC and Theresa (Mark) Brown of Alliance; three brothers, Richard C. (Brenda) Smith and Robert (Linda) Smith, both of Alliance; and Joseph W. (Charlita) Smith of Rockingham, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl D. Smith; and a sister, Barbara Lynn Gosnell.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at First Church of God, 505 N. Lincoln St. Alliance, Ohio 44601 with Pastor Mark McCord officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 885 S. Sawburg Road, Alliance, Ohio, 44601.
