Delbert G. Fredrick, age 86 of Alliance, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Alliance Community Hospital at 10:56 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2005 after suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
He was born December 22, 1918 in Yukon, Mo., to Denver and Bonnie (Shipp) Fredrick and lived in Alliance since 1943.
Mr. Fredrick graduated from Mansfield High School in Mansfield, Mo., and was employed by American Steel Foundries in Alliance until retiring in 1983 after 60 years of service.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he formerly served on the Board of Trustees, was a member of the Fireside Sunday School Class, and treasurer emeritus.
He was a member of Conrad Masonic Lodge #271 and Order of Eastern Star Chapter #296. He was a former member of Alliance Kiwanis, Octagon Club, Marlington High School Band Boosters and a past-president.
Mr. Fredrick enjoyed bowling, golf and fishing; and received a great deal of joy spending time with his grandchildren.
He also volunteered at the Alliance Senior Citizens Center for income tax returns. He was also a U.S. Navy W.W.II veteran.
Survivors include one son, James (Elizabeth) Fredrick of Broadview Heights, Ohio; one daughter, Marianne (Jerry) Michna of Louisville, Ohio; grandchildren, James W. Fredrick Jr., Andrew Fredrick, Lisa Michna, Brian Michna and Anthony Michna; good friend and caregiver Watsna Rosia of North Canton, Ohio; and three sisters, Betty Clayton of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mary Lenn Nash of Salem, Mo., and Peggy Cochran of Springfield, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Vivian Pearl Walker Fredrick, whom he married April 12, 1941, and who died Sept. 22, 2003, and one sister, Eva Lee King.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon Thomas officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, and one half-hour prior to the service at the church. Conrad Masonic Lodge will conduct services at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park.
