Delbert L. Grimes, age 62 of Paris, Ohio died at 1:45 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2005 at Community Care Center.
He was born February 2, 1943 in Alliance, Ohio to Lewis Grimes and Florence Carrol (Vaughn) Grimes Weddell, and was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Grimes graduated from Alliance High School in 1961 and was formerly employed as a machinist at Morgan Engineering. He also previously drove truck for Myers Molasses and worked as a machinist for B&W Research.
Delbert was a member of Beechwood United Methodist Church, where he previously served as an usher and trustee.
He was a member of the Ohio Wagon Train, and former member of the Stark County Fair Board. He was active with the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department from 1977-1992, and was currently an honorary member.
Survivors include his mother, Florence C. Weddell of Alliance, his wife, Margery A. (Zeller) Grimes, whom he married Aug. 4, 1962, son Tim Grimes, daughter Carol Ann (Tom) Schott, daughter Nancy (Earl) McDaniel, all of Paris, son Gary (Gwen) Grimes, of Morengo, Ohio, five grandchildren, Marcus, Lydia, Erik, Curtis and Alec, one brother, Ron Grimes of Paris, Ohio and one sister, Tana (Ed) Conrad, of Homeworth.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Mark.
Services will be held at 10:45 a.m. Monday at Beechwood United Methodist Church with Pastors' Scott Williams and Melvin Lindberg officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, and ? hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at West Beech Cemetery.
