Delbert C. Rohr, a man of honesty, wisdom and humor, age 100, of Alliance, passed away on January 23, 2022.
He was born on August 26, 1921 in Canal Fulton to Walter and Loretta (Schalmo) Rohr.
Delbert graduated from Canal Fulton High school and attended Ohio State University. He was formerly employed by the former MCA Sign Co. as a lithographer until his retirement in 1986. Delbert served honorably in the United States Army Air Force and was a pilot in WWII. He flew the B-17 Bomber for 37 missions and was second lieutenant. He received the Bronze Star and air medals. Delbert was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Massillon, VFW Post 9795 in Canal Fulton and Northwest Stark Senior Center. He was also a lifetime member of the Farm Bureau. Delbert enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, square dancing and round dancing.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Mary Ellen (John) Destefano, Lori Rohr and Steve Rohr (Jolin Rohr); six grandchildren, Dustin, Jason, Jessica, McKenzie, Tiffany and Tara; twelve great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; step-children, Margie Dambrowski and Denny (Jody) Lutton; seven step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Mildred H. (Shanklin) Rohr and Mildred I. (Lutton) Rohr; sisters, Esther, Wilma, Verla; brothers, Glenn, Ray, and Lauren; and a step-son, Clare.
A celebration of life will be held on May 28th at 2:00 p.m. at the VFW in Canal Fulton. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Massillon.
