Dennis D. Devies age 52 of Sebring, died at 6:45 p.m. Monday November 17, 2003 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born January 11, 1951 in Alliance to Eugene C. and Geraldine V. (Leitner) Devies. Mr. Devies was a lifelong resident of Marlboro. He graduated from Marlington High School in 1969. He attended Kent State University, Bowling Green University and graduated from the Police Executive Leadership College and the Certified Law Enforcement Executive, through the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police.
Mr. Devies began his career in law enforcement in 1971 in Marlboro as a patrolman; he also served in Sebring as a patrolman, and rose to the rank of Chief. He became the Chief of Police in Marlboro in 1986.
A member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, he was past president and secretary of Marlboro Lions Club, member of the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police, Stark County Chiefs of Police, life member of Police Executive Leadership College Alumni Association, member of the advisory board for the Stark County Crisis Center, and served on the faculty of Stark State College Police Academy.
He is survived by his mother, Geraldine Devies of Marlboro, his wife Kathleen (Stanley), of Sebring, whom he married February 2, 1974, one son Dennis D. Devies Jr., of Sebring, one daughter Felicity R. Devies, of the home, three brothers Eugene (Marilyn) Devies of Marlboro, Dr. Robert Devies, of Marlboro, and Ronald (Barbara) Devies of Marlboro, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Devies was preceded in death by his father.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Chapel in Marlboro with Pastor Kenneth Price officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Lions Club Services will be conducted at 6:45 p.m.
Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
