Dennis L. Mason

Dennis L. Mason, age 67, of Alliance, passed away at 2:07 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born February 21, 1948, in Alliance, Ohio, to Linus and Hazel (Vanhorn) Mason. Dennis graduated Alliance High School in 1966 and attended Kent State University studying criminal justice and went to the Police Academy in Canton, Ohio, The Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy and Ohio State Patrol Academy. Then moved on to be an Alliance Police Officer who retired in 1992. He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and F.O.P. Alliance Lodge #73. Dennis was also a veteran of the Ohio Military Reserves. He is survived by his children, Brent (Carrie) Mason, of East Canton; Carrie Mason of Alliance; Deanna Mason of Pittsburgh, PA; Derek (Missy) Mason of Columbus; Drew Mason of Salem; and Corey Jones-Mason of Alliance; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Nancy Wilkerson and Sherry Edgar. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 12, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
