Dewey E. "Torchy" Middleton, age 83, of Alliance, died Wednesday, July
30, 2008 at Bel Air Care Center. He was born, August 20, 1924, in New Waterford, Ohio to Jesse and Beatrice (Brown) Middleton. Dewey served as a fireman for the Alliance Fire Department for 32 years before his retirement in 1979. He later enjoyed working as the First Friends Church custodian. He was a past president of the Alliance Fire Department's Local Union #480 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Alliance. Dewey enjoyed fishing, camping, and golfing and especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn (Bixler) Middleton, whom he married December 27, 1947; two sons, Duane "Dewey" Middleton and Jack Middleton (Sandy Artino); one daughter, Sharon Deack; one grandson, Brian Deack and granddaughter, Nicole Middleton, all of Alliance; a great-grandson, Kaydn Middleton; several nieces and nephews; a brother, Donald (Betty Ruth) Middleton of Alliance; and a sister, Eileen Kibler of Sebring. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Arlene, a brother, Forrest "Cy" Middleton and a sister, Doris Cowen. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
