Alton Dewey Syme, age 79, of Alliance passed away at 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Altercare of Alliance.
He was born November 4, 1935 in Wheeler, KY to Jesse and Lora (Detherage) Syme and lived most of his life in Alliance.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Dewey retired as an instrument technician from B & W Research. He was a member of many clubs and organizations in the area including the VFW, Roma Society, Christopher Columbus, the Elks, American Legion, the Dante and William Penn club.
Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Barbara (Salchow) Syme;
children, Eric (Cyndi) Syme of Alliance, Leslie (Steve) Miller of Clarkston, MI, Kristin Broughton of Seattle, WA and Kirk (Vickey) Syme of Alliance; 10 grandchildren; two great grandsons; sisters, Erma Hamblen and Sylvia Croley and brother, Claude Syme, all of Alliance.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. Kenneth Price officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
