Donald James Gray, age 95, of Alliance, passed away at 4:20 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Brookdale Senior Living.
He was born June 4, 1920, in Salem, Ohio, to James Lee and Nora (Gordon) Gray and moved to Alliance in 1935.
Don received his industrial management degree from Kent State University and was personnel manager at American Steel Foundries since June 28, 1948 and retired March 1, 1983.
He was a member and former trustee of Christ United Methodist Church, member of the Alliance Elks Lodge, and former member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and of the Lexington Township Zoning Appeal Board.
Don was a veteran of the United States Army and was a heavy artillery Captain having served in World War II, including the D-Day Invasion.
Survivors include his daughter Nancy (Joe) Main of Alliance; son, Patrick (Sharon) Gray of Sarasota, Florida; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Jayne Harsh of East Rochester.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Catherine (Boyce) Gray; second wife, Uliana "Willie" (Difloure) Gray; and brothers, Richard Gray and Robert G. Gray.
