Donald R. Hall, age 89, of Alliance, formerly of Atwater, passed away at 12:05 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2012 at McCrea Manor. He was born November 19, 1922 in Atwater, to Marion and Mary (Hilker) Hall. Donald was a 1940 graduate of Atwater High School and worked as an operating engineer for H.B. Lockhart Construction in Akron, Ohio. He was also a lifetime member of the Atwater Congregational Church. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, Donald served in WWII and the Ohio National Guard. Donald loved to play golf and after his retirement he and his wife, Helen, spent winters in Avon Park, Florida until returning to Ohio last year. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Helen (Jenkins) Hall whom he married on June 18, 1944; daughter, Peggy Hall of Atlanta; son David (Kathleen) Hall of Atwater; grandchildren, Don (Diana) Hollendonner of New York, Scott (Michele) Hollendonner of Randolph, Laura Hall of Kent, Elaine (Ken) Wohlwend of Rootstown and Karl (Amy) Hall of Atwater; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandson, which completes the five generation family. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Bruce. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Atwater Congregational Church with Pastor Joe Peters and nephew, Rich Hall, co-officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 885 S. Sawburg Rd. Suite. 106, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
