Donald L. McClung, age 72 of Alliance, passed away at the home of his step-daughter at 5:58 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006 after an extended fight with lung cancer.
He was born in Kencheloe, West Virginia on Aug. 20, 1933 to Hunter and Reva (Batton) McClung. He moved to Ohio during his teen years and has resided in the Alliance area since 1949.
He was a member of the United States Army Reserve from 1951 to 1954. Mr. McClung worked for Western Southern Insurance Company until he retired in 1989. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen (Valero) McClung; his sons, Mark (Sandy) McClung, Barry (Pam) McClung, his daughter Lisa (Chuck) Noble; his step-daughter, Michele (Jeff) Helaney, and the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Paige Helaney, Jarron (Ashley) Noble, Megan Noble, Morgan Noble; his brothers, Rube McClung and David McClung, and his sisters, Ruth "Evelyn" Mesaros, Freda (Frank) Fegan, and Naomi (Ron) Fraraccio. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Donald McClung will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Gross officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memoriams be given in Donald's name to either St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3294 S.
