Donald C. Mackall, Esq., age 82, of Alliance, and formerly of North Canton, died at St. Luke's Lutheran Community Care Center at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2005.
He was born June 19, 1922 in Negley, Ohio to William Burdette and Frances (Pitzer) Mackall.
Attorney Mackall graduated from Mount Union College, and received his Juris Doctorate from Western Reserve University Law School.
Until the mid 1960's, he practiced law in Ohio and operated Industrial Public Relations, Inc. In 1967, he joined the Developmental Staff of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, as Director of Deferred Giving. In 1971, he became Dean of University Relations and Development for Florida International University, Miami, Florida. In the late 1970's, he joined Ketchum, Inc., where he held the titles of Senior Consultant and Vice-President.
Among his clients, Attorney Mackall managed the Gerald R. Ford Library and Museum Fund Campaign, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and was Counsel to President of the University of Michigan, conducting a multi-million dollar fund-raising effort.
Mackall's activities as a lecturer, discussion leader and consultant have placed him before General William Westmoreland and Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge. He also was a newsman for WFAH in Alliance, and WHBC in Canton.
He was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, having served during W.W.II.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Ann Mackall (Ron) Archbold, of Pinehurst, North Carolina; his son, D. Scott Mackall of North Canton; his sister, Adena Robertson of Salem, and Virginia McCready, of Alliance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Maxine (Emmons) Mackall, whom he married in 1952, and who died in 1981, and two brothers.
Private interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Christ Presbyterian Church, 530 Tuscarawas St. W, Canton with Rev. David deVries and Rev. Doug Patton co-officiating. Friends may call from 12:30- 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
