Donald M. Minnich Sr. age 84, of Alliance, died Monday, March 23, 2009 at Aultman Hospital.
He was born June 14, 1924 in Duke Center, Pennsylvania to Lawrence and Ruth E. (Gailey) Minnich.
A graduate of Susquehanna University with a Business Degree, Don played football with the Alonzo Stagg Bowl.
Mr. Minnich worked as a salesman for Wolfs Head Oil, before becoming a regional manager. He also was a real-estate developer in Gas and Oil; and a 20 year Teamster.
A member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church; Donald was a Mason, enjoyed fishing in Canada; spending time with his grandchildren; and going to Bear Hollow Lodge.
A U.S. Army Air Corp veteran, Mr. Minnich served as a B17 Pilot during WWII, and flew 88 missions, including Iwo Jima, Tinnian, and Sai Pan.
Survivors include his four children, Donald M. Minnich Jr., William G. (Shelly) Minnich, David L. Minnich, and Susan L. (Jess) Gift; eight grandchildren, Bob, Mike, Jessica, Lauren, Danielle, Marie, Chelsea and Donnie; and twin sister, Donna Marie Bradigan.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn Mae (Hughes) Minnich whom he married July 28, 1951 and who died September 15, 2007; his step-mother, Olive "Brownie" Brown, and two brothers, Jack and Gary.
A private graveside service will be held at McKean Memorial Park in Bradford, Pennsylvania.
