Donald E. Myers age 80, of Alliance, died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2011, at his home.
He was born February 11, 1931, in Canton, to Henry and Mary Etta (Brumbaugh) Myers.
Donald graduated from the former Marlboro High School, was employed at Alliance Machine and retired from Bill's Marathon Station as a mechanic after more than 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Hartville Church of the Brethren. Donald enjoyed carpentry, woodworking and cabinet making, including clocks and crafts. He enjoyed his family very much.
Survivors include his children, Patricia Lynn (Bruce) Helsel of Alliance, Michael Lee (Darlene) Myers of Colorado Springs, CO, Sandra Sue Blair of Alliance and John Eric (Lyn) Myers of Alliance; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence Norton of Hartville; dear friend and companion, Gladys Sams Stanfield of Sebring and good friend and former employer, Bill Bossert of Alliance.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary E. (Allen) Myers, whom he married October 26, 1950 and who died April 29, 2007; and three sisters, Ruth Moles, Grace Evans and Ethel Evans.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011, at the Hartville Church of the Brethren with Pastor Tom Michaels officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
