Donald Richard Slusser, age 74 of Alliance, passed away at 6:41 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Aultman Hospital. He was born to William Harrison Slusser and Ida M. (Wise) Slusser in Alliance, Ohio on December 13, 1935. Survivors include his wife, Margaret A. (LeMay) Slusser, whom he married on July 21, 1962; daughter, Michele A. Walizer, son, Douglas R. Slusser, grandson, Griffin A. Walizer, sister, Lois Snowden and several nephews and nieces. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Ted, Edward, and Ernest and sisters, Beatrice Marshall and Erma Varga. Don graduated from Alliance High School in 1955 where he was a member of the football team for three years. He was an Eagle Scout and coached his son's little league baseball team and his daughter's softball team. Don was a proud member of the Alliance Elks and McKinley Eagles, where he and Peg enjoyed sharing their love and passion of ballroom dancing many evenings. Don was a member of the Alliance First Church of God where he sang in the choir for 25 years. A veteran of the U. S. Army, Don retired from Alliance Machine in 2001 after more than 35 years of service. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the First Church of God with Pastor Larry Murphy officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Church of God.
