Doney G. "Boots" Wallace, 80, Goshen, died 1:08 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 at IU Health Goshen Hospital. He was born March 22, 1934 in Alliance, Ohio to Lester "Pat" & Mildred (Ditch) Wallace. He married Marilyn (Kuntzman) Wallace on July 14, 1962 in Alliance, Ohio.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn of Goshen, daughter, Cheri Holmes, New Paris, son, Gary (Kathryn) Wallace, Greencastle, Penn., sister, Mary Ann Mick, Malvern, Ohio, 2 grandchildren, Tyler (Ashley) Holmes and Colin Holmes, all of Indianapolis and 2 step-grandchildren, Sean, Corning, New York and Alison, Queens, New York. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Doney was a 1952 graduate of Minerva High School, Minerva, Ohio, and served in the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Army and was discharged in 1957. He worked at Universal Co-op for 40 years. He was a life member of the VFW, Alliance, Ohio, member of the Homeworth Masonic Lodge, Valley of Canton Scottish Rite, Tadmor Shrine, Akron, Ohio, and Goshen Elks. He was a Red Coat at IU Health Goshen Hospital and was a member of the Goshen General Hospital Auxiliary. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Goshen, and enjoyed golfing and fishing.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2015 at Cassaday-Turkle Christian Funeral & Cremation Service, Alliance, Ohio where the service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015. Pastor Kenny Thomas, First Christian Church of Malvern, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Alliance, Ohio. Memorials may be directed to the Shriners Club for Transportation.
