It is with great sadness that the family of Donna G. Brown, age 85, formerly of Alliance, Beloit and Sebring, announce her passing at Fairlawn Retirement Community in Archbold, Ohio Saturday, June 2, 2018.
She was born August 25, 1932, in Hammondsville, Ohio to Vance Sivard and Bessie (Carson) Sivard.
A 1950 graduate of Irondale High School, Donna worked as a secretary for many years at Williams-Case Insurance Agency in Sebring, retiring in 1988.
Donna was an active member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church, the Christian Women's Club, and an avid supporter of Rodman Public Library.
Donna's great passions were her faith, her family and her many friends. She never met anyone that she could not talk to and thoroughly enjoyed visiting shut-ins at Copeland Oaks and Crandall Medical Center for many years. Donna had a natural knack and talent for early American decorating with antiques in her beautifully restored countryside home in Beloit; she shared with her husband, Bob, for 28-years. She enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to her numerous flower gardens, ornamental bushes and shrubbery, and especially making generous-sized bags of Holly to give away at Christmastime. She also loved reading, listening to audio books later in life, and had a lifelong love of music, to include playing the piano and organ at the Hammondsville United Methodist Church.
Donna will be lovingly remembered by her son, Robert Wesley (Anne) Brown II, of New Albany, Ohio; daughter, Julie (Dave) Storrer of Wauseon, Ohio; grandchildren, Kyle (Jenna) Storrer and Hannah (Derek) Weidemen; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Owen Storrer; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Wesley Brown, whom she married August 18, 1956 and who died in 2004; and sisters, Myrene Varty and Martha Frankhouser.
A celebration of Donna's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 27, 2018 at Union Avenue United Methodist Church with the Rev. Coralee Cox officiating. The family will be present one hour before the service. Immediately following the service there will be a reception in the church's Fellowship Hall with a catered lunch from Papa Gyros Greek Grill, one of Donna's favorite restaurants.
Memorial donations in honor of Donna may be made to Union Avenue United Methodist Church, 1843 S. Union Ave., Alliance, OH 44601 or the Copeland Life Care Fund at Copeland Oaks, 800 S. 15th St., Sebring, OH 44672. The family of Donna wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all the staff at Copeland Oaks, Crandall Medical Center and especially those in Copeland Oaks' Assisted Living that cared for and loved her so very much.
