Donna Jean Ermlich

Donna Jean Ermlich, age 91, of Alliance passed away on September 12, 2021.

She was born on February 5, 1930 in Alliance to Chester Elliott and Thelma (Russell) Elliott.

Donna graduated from Alliance High School in 1948 and from Mount Union with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education in 1951 where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She taught at South Liberty and South Lincoln Elementary until her retirement in 1965. Donna was an avid supporter of The University of Mount Union where she received an Alumni Award. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday School and served as a Senior Warden on the Vestry. Donna was also a member of the Alliance Country Club and was past president of the Alliance Women’s Club, the YWCA, Coterie, Sorosis, Hills and Dale Gardener’s.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Patricia Summers; nieces, Diane (Jason) Mitchell and Beth Miller, Deborah (William) Fankhauser, Lisa Escott; nephews, Bill Hartenstein and Greg Elliott; great-nieces and nephews, Carlee, Caleb, and Camryn Mitchell, Joshua, Sarah and Nicholas Hartenstein, Jessica Friesner, Joshua Escott, Christina Henry, Kathy Elliott, Elizabeth Binson and Alexandra Fankhauser; sister-in-law, Nancy Elliott: and special friends, Becky and Dale Dillon and Dixie and Glenn Reynolds.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Evan Jones; her second husband, Ted Ermlich; companion, Doctor Robert Hines; and her brother, William Elliott.

A funeral service will be held Friday, September 17 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior.
