Doris Mary Webster Wentzel, age 83, of Beloit, died at 8:34 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born April 7, 1928, in Akron, Ohio, to Thomas Paul Webster and Bessie Edith (Stroup) Webster.
Doree was a 1946 graduate of Alliance High School where she participated in the marching band as a majorette.
She joined the Westville Congregational Christian Church, now known as the Community Bible Church in 1956. She was a past member of the Sandhi Club, which she co-founded during her high school years. She also belonged to the Alliance Senior Center, Alliance AARP and the Golden Oldies group at her church.
Doree had a lifetime love of travel; and she visited each of the continental United States, as well as Hawaii.
She and her husband enjoyed many of their retirement years spending winters in Florida. She was a loving, caring, energetic, person who enjoyed socializing with her family and large circle of friends. She will be sadly missed by all.
Survivors include daughters, Sharon Beth (Stephen) Cochran of Lewis Center, Ohio and Linda Maria Wentzel of Salem; son, Robert Mathias (Diane) Wentzel, Jr. of Canfield, six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Boyd (Jean) Webster; five nieces and five nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Mathias Wentzel, Sr., whom she married December 4, 1948 and who died March 13, 2008; brother, Thomas Paul Webster II; and a sister, Janet Ernest.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Rod Doran officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
