Dorothy J. Bandy, age 82 of Copeland Oaks in Sebring, and formerly of Shaker Heights, Ohio died at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at Salem Community Hospital.
Dorothy was born March 23, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio to Harold Kenneth and Bernice (Lytle) Carpenter. She graduated from Mount Union College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and was formerly employed as a secretary for Lake Forest Academy in Illinois, and also in the Mountain Brook School System in Alabama.
She was a member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church and Alpha Xi Delta Sorority.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Carpenter (Kathleen) Bandy of Downers Grove, Illinois, and Thomas George (Lynne) Bandy of Guelph, Ontario, Canada; two grandchildren, Joel and Lauren Bandy; four step-grandchildren, Sophia, Meredith, Gordon and Theo Robinson; four nieces, Pat Redmond, Judy Tettlebach, Susan Talbot, and Rhonda Waters; and one nephew, Ken Carpenter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph George Bandy, whom she married Aug. 8, 1945, and who died in March, 1997; two sisters, Virginia Carpenter and Mary Lou Motto; and one niece, Shelly Motto.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Bennett Chapel at Copeland Oaks with Rev. Gordon Ruggles and Rev. Rebecca Innerst officiating. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
