Dorothy G. Broadwater, age 86, of Paris passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, July 21, 2015.
She was born October 31, 1928, in Cochran, Georgia, to the late Lois Green and Ralph Erb.
Dorothy married her husband Everett on September 29, 1945. They lived their early years in Coshocton, Ohio, moved to Florida briefly, finally settling in Alliance.
Dorothy graduated from Cosmetology School, and owned her own beauty salon, "Dorothy's" at the back of their house on W. Market St. in Alliance for many years. They sold their home and moved to Freeburg (Paris) in the early 70's.
She operated the salon at Copeland Oaks until a motor vehicle accident in 1974 forced her early retirement. After her recovery, they spent some winters in Florida and enjoyed traveling to Oregon and Colorado to visit family.
Dorothy was a member of Assembly of God Church in Alliance, where she was a member of the board, and spent many years as the treasurer. She was also a member of the Washington Township Women's Club.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening and canning, but her focus was always family, opening her arms and home, sharing her love of Jesus, and lavishing that love on all.
Survivors include her husband of almost 70 years, Everett Broadwater, Jr., two children, Linda (Robert) Cunningham, of Tillamook, OR, and Gregory Broadwater, of Canton; sisters, Lillian (Louis) Bondoni of Alliance, Eva Stancato of Sebring, Jean Sipes of Lakewood, CO, and Eunice Sanderson, of Alliance; grandchildren, Shannon Cunningham, Shadd Cunningham, Briana (Carl) Schwind, Ross (Kim) Broadwater, and Cody Broadwater; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Winifred Sanderson.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Karen Marzlin CNP, at Aultman Cardiology for devoting her personal attention and daily medical care, and to Jason Bertram M.D. for his positive and personal care of our loved one. That out of the box medical approach was a blessing to them.
