Dorothy M. (Devers) Scott, age 99, of Sebring, died at 3:35 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Crandall Medical Center.
She was born April 25, 1911 in Alliance, Ohio, to Clyde and Ila (McLean) Devers and resided most of her life in the Alliance area.
Dorothy was a 1929 graduate of Alliance High School and employed as a stenographer for the former McCaskey Register in Alliance.
She was a member of the Beechwood United Methodist Church where she served as church organist for many years and with the Women's Missionary. A former member of the Washington Township Farm Women's Club, Dorothy also belonged to the Beechwood Pioneers.
Survivors include her two daughters, Marie Shanks and Irene (Richard) Stackhouse, both of Alliance; son, Thomas V. (Bonny) Scott of Cuyahoga Falls; sister, Eleanor Lautzenheiser Cox of Sebring; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon L. Scott, whom she married January 1, 1935 and who died September 30, 1997; daughter, Sarah Baylor who died October, 2001; and brother, Raymond Devers.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 at Beechwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Miller officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Beechwood Cemetery.
