Dorothy M. "Dot" Peterson Purdy Yost, age 81 of Alliance, died at 9:55 a.m. July 31, 2006 at her home.
She was born March 21, 1925 in Marietta, Ohio, the daughter of Mirrel S. Oliver and Dorothy V. (Kidd) Hickman and lived in Alliance most of her life.
Mrs. Yost graduated from Lawrence High School in Washington County and was employed by Old King Cole in Louisville; she had also been employed at Taylor Craft, several Alliance restaurants, and former Alliance Movie Theatres.
Dot attended Lexington United Methodist Church, was an avid bingo enthusiast, and enjoyed traveling, including several trips to India and Hawaii.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Richard) Peterson Eberling of Marlboro, Linda Purdy Klingerman (Mike) of Loudon, Tn.; two sons, Paul (Wanda) Peterson Jr. of Canton, and Carl (Elizabeth) Peterson of Alliance; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; close friend, Harry Wilson; two sisters, Bernadine (Noah) Oliver Collins of Alvin, Tx., and Donna Jean (Walter) Oliver Mozzochi of Alliance; one brother, James (Carol) Hickman of Winona; two half-brothers; one half-sister; many nieces and nephews; three step-sons; and one step-daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pat Yost who died in 1976; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Myrtle (Oliver) Oberlin; several half-brothers, and one half-sister.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Baltzer officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will follow at Marlboro Cemetery.
