Dorothy May Wafler, age 89, of Alliance, died at 10:20 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Salem Community Hospital.
She was born November 11, 1921, in her home in Alliance to Homer and Cleda (McCausland) Zurbrugg and was a lifetime resident.
Dorothy was a graduate of Sebring High School and was employed at Mahoning Valley Dairy and Copeland Oaks. She was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ and was Sunday school teacher, financial secretary and custodian.
She enjoyed playing bingo and cards and reading the Bible.
Surviving are her sons, Terry Wafler of Alliance, and Lynn (Barb) Wafler of Canton; grandson, Kelby (Ronnie) Wafler of Summitville, Ohio and granddaughters, Heidi Wafler of Buchannan, W. Va., Courtney Wafler of Brecksville and Holly Wafler of Canton; sisters, Mildred "Millie" (Del) Rohr of Canal Fulton and Vera (John) Spear of Monroeville, Pa; and brother, Ralph Zurbrugg of Alliance.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Albert Wafler, whom she married August 24, 1946 and who died February 26, 1966; brother, Ken Zurbrugg and sister, Helen Kandel.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2011, at Bethel United Church of Christ with Rev. Alecia Schroedel officiating. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service on Monday. Interment will be at Bethel Cemetery.
