Dorothy L. Walkup

Dorothy L. Walkup, age 81, of Alliance, passed away at 12:35 p.m. Thursday May 21, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center.
She was born May 25, 1933 in Newcomerstown, Ohio to William and Jennie (Bishard) Daugherty
Dorothy was a 1953 graduate of Newcomerstown High School and was a cake decorator and baker for 30 years and had been employed at Sugar and Spice and Buckeye Village. She was also an Avon representative for 25 years.
She was a lifetime member of Mountain of the Lord Foursquare Gospel Church and very active in all church aspects. Dorothy was a member of Aglow and walked in the Carnation Parade with her church family.
Survivors include her children, Sarah "Sally" (Jim) Richards of Minneapolis, MN. Kimberly (Paul) Payton of Mansfield, Theresa (James) Stillman of Willoughby and Richard W. Walkup of Alliance.; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; her dog "Joey" and dear friend, Chester Bryant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard L. Walkup, whom she married July 30, 1948, and who died April 18, 1999; an infant daughter; a great-grandson; one sister and three brothers.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mercy Hospice, 4369 Whipple Ave NW, Canton, Ohio 44718 or donors' choice of charity.
