Dorrine Ray Burkhead

Dorrine Rae Burkhead, age 93, passed away on June 12, 2023.

She was born on March 11, 1931, in Tiltonsville, Ohio, to Selwyn and Helen Irene (Jackson) Martin.

Dorrine graduated as valedictorian from Warren High School in 1950. She then received her bachelors of sacred music from Cleveland Bible College with honors and her Evangelical Teacher Associates in 1954. Dorrine taught elementary and middle school from 1956-1971. She was a member of the State Teachers Organization. Dorrine loved music and was an accomplished piano player and dulcimer player. She also enjoyed sewing and doing crafts.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Gina Englehart; sister, Audrey Owens; grandsons, Nicholas and Tyler Englehart; great-grandchildren, Camri, Lucas, and one on the way; niece, Melissa Owens; grandnephews, Brendan Bobo, Zachary Owens; and a grandniece, Caitlyn Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Merriel Burkhead, whom she married on June 30, 1950.

A private family service was held.
