Dorthy Mae Johnson, age 92, of Alliance, passed away at 5:03 a.m. Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
Dorthy, or Tommy, as many knew her, was born September 5, 1919 in Alliance, Ohio to Frank and Alta (Grimes) Sutton.
A resident of Washington Twp. all her life, Dorthy graduated from Alliance High School and was a lifelong member of Beechwood United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Janet Lawther; two daughters, Faith (Al) Plisousky of Palmer, Alaska, and Becky (Lynn) Kesterke, of Alliance; two sons, Larry (Julie) Johnson, and Joe (Debbie) Johnson, both of Alliance; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and her first great-great-grandchild, born April 5th; and nieces, Sue King of Raleigh, NC and Ann (Jeff) Egli of Alliance.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 55 years, Fred Johnson Jr.; son, Daniel, and sister, Fran Johnson.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Beechwood United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Miller officiating. The church will be open one hour prior for calling.
Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Sunday School Department of Beechwood United Methodist Church, 3450 Beechwood Ave. Alliance, Ohio 44601, or Alliance Hospice, 885 S. Sawburg Rd. Alliance Ohio 44601.
