Douglas M. Wait

Douglas M. Wait, age 60, of Alliance, passed away at 1:45 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born August 27, 1954, in Alliance, to Paul and Pauline (Flenniken) Wait. Douglas was an Alliance High School graduate and his life's passion was baseball. He umpired for the Alliance Hot Stove League and local high schools. He was a member of the ASA Umpire Association, was inducted to the Umpire Hall of Fame, chief umpire of the Alliance Hot Stove League and served on their board of directors. He was also a coach who influenced the lives of many young men. Survivors include his mother, Pauline; sons, JP (Courtney) Wait of Alliance, Michael Wait (fiancé, Ryann McCoy) of Wright Patterson Air Force Base and William (Shawna) Stinsman of Alliance; four grandchildren, #1girl-Audrina, Kaiden, Kaleb, Kaylianna and another due in June; significant other, Michele Conner; siblings, Danny (Liz) Wait, Debra "Twisted" (Jim) Cox, Darryl Wait and Donovan (Sherrie) Wait; nephew, Dan (Erica) Leedy, Jr. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. A private family service will be held.
