Dr. Nicolae "Nicu" Stanciu

Dr. Nicolae "Nicu" Stanciu, age 93, of Alliance, passed away at 11:10 a.m., Monday, October 15, 2018, at Alliance Community Hospital.
Nicu was born March 17, 1925, in Bucharest, Romania, to Constantin and Ana Stanciu.
A 1954 graduate of the University of Bucharest College of Medicine with his Doctorate Degree, Nicu was a family physician for 35 years.
Nicu was a member of the St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church in Alliance. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling, and had a love for opera music.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia (Jacob) Calesi, a retired Spanish teacher, whom he married October 13, 2003; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Nicu was preceded in death by his son, Adrian; two brothers; and three sisters.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2018, at St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. John Nemes officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
