Dr. Robert C. Reed

Dr. Robert C. Reed, age 76, of Indian Land, South Carolina, formerly of Alliance, passed away at 9:40 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
He was born November 22, 1938, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, to Rev. John A. and Ellen (Oldknow) Reed. He had resided in Alliance from 1973 till 2014 when he moved to South Carolina.
Dr. Reed was a 1956 graduate of Kent School in Kent, Connecticut, 1961 graduate of Princeton University and 1965 graduate of Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He was a member of the United States Public Health Service, Stark County Medical Society, Ohio State Medical Association, co-founder and member of the Board of Trustees at Good Samaritan Medical Clinic, and ex-member of the Board of Trustees at Alliance Community Hospital and the Alliance Country Club. Dr. Reed was recipient of the Stark County Medical Society Lifetime Achievement Award in the year 2000.
Survivors include his wife, Sally (Pastorelle) Reed of Indian Land, South Carolina, whom he married December 26, 1964; sons, John M. Reed USMC and his wife, Jennifer Reed of Falls Church, Virginia and Collin A. (Sarah) Reed of Valparaiso, Indiana; daughter, Jennifer T. (Robert) O'Connell of Ipswich, Massachusetts; nine grandchildren; and sisters, Joan Clouse and Virginia Fisher.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Robert's life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at the Alliance Country Club, 725 E. Milton St., Alliance, OH 44601.
