Duard Mathes, age 82, of Alliance, passed away at 11:20 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 23, 1934, in Erwin, Tennessee, to Benjamin and Tressie (McCann) Mathes.
A member of the Alliance Baptist Temple, Duard retired in 1988 as a foreman at Babcock and Wilcox Tubular Division after 37 years of service.
He loved fishing and bowling and eating breakfast every morning at the Blue Fig in Alliance. In his younger days, he enjoyed drag racing cars.
In addition to his wife, Dolores (Fowler) Mathes, whom he married September 24, 1955, Duard is survived by five generations; his sons, Tom D. (Colleen) Mathes Jr. and Tim Mathes (fiance, Barbara Chapman), both of Alliance; grandchildren, Marcus Mathes, Ashley (Eric) Tanner, Ryan (Courtney) Mathes and Casey (Derek) Smith; great-grandchildren, T.J., Morgan, Cole, Kyle, Kamden, Lily, Miles, Addison, Oriana, and Violet; and great-great-grandson, Landon.
Duard was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Calliope; three brothers; and a sister.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2016, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Embleton officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. prior to the service.
