Duncan E. Johnston, age 87, of Limaville, passed away at 12:18 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at the Community Care Center. He was born Oct. 18, 1922, in Alliance, Ohio, to Adam and Mary (Sly) Johnston.
He graduated from Alliance High School and was a former member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Duncan was employed by SanCap Abrasives as a chief electrician until his retirement. He was formerly mayor of Limaville, Ohio and member of the Limaville Lions Club, VFW Post 6730 of Sebring and American Legion Post 166 of Alliance. He enjoyed boating and camping.
Duncan served in the United States Army, serving with the 736th Tank Battalion and was a recipient of four Bronze Stars.
He is survived by his wife, Lois A. (Beltz) Johnston of Limaville, whom he married in 1946; two sons, Dennis A. Johnston of Albany, NY, and Mark D. Johnston of Limaville; one daughter, Jill A. (Larry) Blasiman of Canton; five grandchildren; one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Loyd; and two sisters, LaVern and Marie.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Adkins officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at the Limaville Cemetery.
