Dwain H. Witter, age 88 of Homeworth, died at 6:06 a.m. Thursday April 20, 2006 at the Arbors of Canton.
He was born March 26, 1918 in East Canton, Ohio to Mervin and Iva (Schweitzer) Witter and was a lifelong Homeworth resident.
Mr. Witter graduated from Goshen High School and the National Radio Institute, and was the self-employed owner of Witter Radio and T.V. Sales and Service.
He was a member of the Church of the Brethren, and former member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Canton.
Mr. Witter was a member of Indian Run Square Dance Club, the Knox Citizen Group, was interested in photography, and presented programs for many organizations in the area.
Surviving his wife, Phyllis E. (Grimpe) Witter; step-daughter, Elisabeth Durbin of Canton; step-son, Clifford Wilson of Cleveland; grandchildren, Debbie (Ed) DeStephen of Canal Fulton, and Mike (Terri) Durbin of Canton; great-grandchildren, Ben and Matt DeStephen, and Cory, Ryan and Sara Durbin, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Naomi, and step-son-in-law, Eugene Durbin.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Bradley officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Northlawn Cemetery in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Witter's name to Alliance Visiting Nurse Hospice Association, 885 S. Sawburg Rd. Alliance, Ohio 44601, or Alzheimer's Association, 4815 Munson St. NW, Canton, Ohio 44718.
