Dwight R. Bush, age 90, formerly of Homeworth, passed away at 8:15 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2014, at Sterling House of Alliance.
He was born September 11, 1923, in Homeworth, Ohio, to Andrew and Mivy (Chisolm) Bush.
Dwight retired in 1982 after working 30 years in the wholesale/retail lumber business and previously for Shepherd Morris Lumber in Youngstown for 20 years.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church since 1950. He was a member and district commander of the American Legion No. 574 in N. Georgetown, having just received his 65 year pin and a member of the VFW Post 1036. He served in the color guard with both the American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed woodworking and crafting toys.
Dwight served in the United States Army, 4th Armored Division, rank T-5, during World War II in six major battles. He served under General Patton and enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner with him.
Survivors include his wife of more than 70 years, Lois (Simons) Bush of Alliance; children, Bonnie (Donald) Riddle of Homeworth, Gary Bush of Maui, Hawaii, and Lori (Edward) Wagnitz of Munds Park, Arizona; four granddaughters, three great-granddaughters; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2014, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday September 5, 2014. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
