Dwight L. Kommel Sr., age 88, of Sebring, passed away at 6:05 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2017, at Crandall Medical Center.
He was born March 12, 1928, in Alliance, Ohio, to the late Robert R. and Mary Alta (Anderson) Kommel.
Dwight was a graduate of Alliance High School. He was owner of the former Alliance Delivery Service from 1953 to 1958, previously employed by Kiko Auctioneers and had established Kommel Realty and Auction Company in 1973 until his retirement in 2008.
He was a past president of both the Alliance Lions Club and Alliance Realtors, and past assistant president of Five Points Rotary Club in El Monte, California. He enjoyed making pottery.
Dwight was a Korean War veteran having served his country in the United States Army and a member of the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 69 years, Barbara (Wood) Kommel, whom he married June 20, 1948; three sons, Dwight (Patti) Kommel Jr. of Beloit, William R. (Patti) Kommel of California and Gregory J. (Sherri) Kommel of Marlboro; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Schartiger of Massillon; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dwight, was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Feiock; four brothers; and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
