Earl V. Cribbs, age 86, of Alliance, died at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born February 28, 1920 in Akron, Ohio to Henry W. and Mary A. (Degan) Cribbs and had been a resident of Alliance since 1949.
Mr. Cribbs was a 1937 graduate of Sharon Center High School and worked for Universal Co-Operatives for 32 years.
Earl was a member of Science Hill Community Church.
Mr. Cribbs proudly served his country during WWII. He served in the 36th Division and saw combat in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and France. When discharged he had reached the rank of Master Tech Sargent. He was the recipient of the Silver Star and Bronze Star and was wounded at the Battle for Monte Casino and was awarded a Purple Heart.
Survivors include his son, Ronald (Darlene) Cribbs of East Canton; daughters, Patricia (Jim) Dearth of Alliance and Barbara (Ford) Hoffman of Alliance; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, Delbert Cribbs of Warren, Ohio; and sister-in-law Janet Cribbs of Marietta, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mildred G. (Waller) Cribbs whom he married April 3, 1946 and who passed away Dec. 31, 1998, two sisters and one brother.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Thomas McFarren officiating. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
